Hardcover. Etat : VG++. Etat de la jaquette : VG+. Amedeo Gigli (illustrateur). 1st Thus. For many years Japan has been a dominant international manufacturer and innovator in the motor cat production and innovation. This situation, however, came only after World War Two, prior to which Japanese automobile technology was limited, depending largely on imported ideas and engineering transfer, with imported vehicles outnumbering domestically produced models until about the early 1930s. This volume tracks the history of Japanes motor maufacture from 1907, giving technical data, listing every manufacturer and their products, participation in motor racing and rallies, design evolutions, experimental models and how what is recognised as the Japanese "miracle" of its rise as a automotive power-house was achieved. The "history" is presented in four sections, one a general coverage of the development and evolution of the motor industry from the early 1900s, the progression from "copy to innovation", Japan's motor racing involvement and a listinjg of the models manufactured by a dozen leading companies. First published in Rome in 1986 with this English transation published in Australia that same year. 192 pages including index, nine double page colour paintings of cars from 1907 to 1966 by Amedeo Gigli, about 50 colour illustrations, mainly photos with some art, b/w photos throughout, with some technical drawings and cut-away views.
