John Cooney was a journalist and broadcaster for over 40 years, working as religious affairs correspondent for both The Irish Times and Irish Independent. He was a visiting Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Aberdeen and Director of the Humbert Summer School in County Mayo. He is the author of The Crozier and The Dáil, Church-State in Ireland 1922-1986.
