Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. pp: 364. A biography of James Fitzmaurice, made famous when he was part of the crew of a German Junkers W 33 that made the first successful trans-Atlantic flight from east to west on April 12 and 13, 1928. Fitzmaurice's life was not exactly boring before that. He served in various British regiments during the First World War. Near the end of the war he joined the RAF and was commissioned on the day the armistice was signed. He flew for several years delivering the mail. He then joined the Irish National Army's air service. It was during his time in this service that he made one unsuccessful trans Atlantic flight and then the successful one mentioned above. This is a very good copy in dust jacket. The jacket has one short, closed tear, and light edge wear. It has been inscribed and signed by the author on the title page. The jacket is protected with a Brodart cover. Signed by Author(s). N° de réf. du vendeur 008391
