Introduction and commentaries by Stephen Coppel. Richard Hamilton began illustrating James Joyce's Ulysses in 1947 a year before he entered the Slade School. Hamilton had a lifelong interest in this groundbreaking literary work. In this catalogue, seven extracts are included alongside full-plate illustrations taken from Hamilton's own paperback copy of the 1932 Odyssey edition now (2002) in his possession for over 50 years.
