Synopsis
Sean Connery is a study in contradiction. Balding, 62, argumentative and reputedely tight-fisted, he is also regarded as one of the sexiest men alive. This biography traces Sean's rise to stardom from the slums of Edinburgh. The book looks at his studying Shakespeare and Shaw in the professional theatre, to the appeal and cash of the movies. After eight years off bit playing, he found his first success with the film "Dr No". The Bond films led onto films such as "The Name of the Rose", "The Untouchables", "Highlander" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". The book draws on the reminiscences of friends and colleagues to create a portrait of one of the world's leading film personalities.

His role as Jimmy Malone in Brian De Palma's The Untouchables won him an Academy Award, which many saw as recongnition of a body of superlative screen creations over twenty years.
