Neil nació en Escocia y, salvo por unos años en el extranjero, lleva viviendo allí casi toda su vida. Escritor independiente a tiempo completo desde 1988, Neil ha viajado por cinco continentes y escrito más de cincuenta guías de viaje y senderismo para diversas editoriales como HarperCollins, AA Publishing, Berlitz y Lonely Planet.

Andy es un escritor freelance que después de estudiar Arqueología y Psicología, trabajó en el negocio de la navegación, en educación, en teatro, vendiendo whisky a los escoceses... Desde que realizó un magnifíco trabajo de investigación para un pub que lo contrató para que redactara su guía, ha escrito o colaborado en cerca de cincuenta guías en Lonely Planet (sobre todo de Escocia, Finlandia y América Latina) y en otras editoriales, y publicado artículos sobre temas tan diversos como el vino o Shakespeare para una gran variedad de periódicos, revistas y sitios web.
