Marci Thomas, CPA, MHA, is an author and discussion leader for Loscalzo Associates, P.A., and performs quality control and risk assessment consultations. Ms. Thomas is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she teaches Health Care Consulting and Financial Leadership. She is a frequent speaker at local, regional, and national conferences for groups such as the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Healthcare Information Systems Society (HIMSS), Health Care Compliance Association (HCAA), and others. She is vice chair of the Georgia Society of CPAs Healthcare Section. She is co-editor and author of a book published by Jossey-Bass in 2004, Essentials of Physician Practice Management. Kimberly Strom-Gottfried, Ph.D., is the Smith P. Theimann Jr. Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Professional Practice at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work. She has worked in the nonprofit and public sectors as a clinician, program planner, and trainer. Her scholarly interests involve ethics, moral courage, and social work education. She is the former chair of the National Association of Social Workers National Committee on Inquiry and the author of Straight Talk about Professional Ethics and the co-author of the texts Direct Social Work and Practice and Teaching Social Work Value and Ethics: A Curriculum Resource. She currently holds an appointment as the Associate Director for the Academic Leadership Program at the University of North Carolina Institute for Arts & Humanities.
