Softcover. Etat : Near fine. First edition. A word of warning: this book is listed under several similar but different titles, some crediting Arthur Drexler as the author, some Charles Eames, some both, and some even adding a few names which, from our research, seem completely puzzling. Our copy states "Charles Eames Furniture from the Design Collection, The Museum of Modern Art, New York." In other words, this slim paperback is a catalog of the furniture designed by Charles Eames, owned by The Museum of Modern Art in New York and included in its design collection, as of the publication date of 1973, or first edition. Arthur Drexler, the director of MOMA's Department of Architecture and Design, wrote the introduction. There is a running text that weaves in and out of the pages, alongside the many pictures; it is unsigned, but as Drexler is listed as the author, not editor, of the catalog, presumably he wrote this text as well as the introduction. Eighty-nine illustrations, almost all of them items of Eames-designed furniture, in a book which, including copyright page, is only 56 pages long. (Just in case you thought the famous "Eames chair" was all the designer did.) Almost all of these illustrations are black-and-white photographs; the notable exception is a two-page color spread of a set of furniture in a conversation arrangement. This first edition is near fine condition. Slight rubbing to both front and back covers along the spine; the spine itself shows no wear. No marks, tears, soiling, or any other flaws to either the interior or the boards. In fact, despite the light shelf wear, it has the stiffness to the covers that make it feel like it has never been read. Altogether, an excellent purchase for those interested in mid-century modern design in general or Eames furniture in particular. N° de réf. du vendeur 710
