Trade paperback. Etat : Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. x, [2], 192, [4] pages. Map. Footnotes, Bibliography. Index. Timothy J. Lomperis is professor and chair of the department of political science at Saint Louis University. He had previously been an army intelligence officer in Viet Nam. When this work was published the author was an assistant professor of political science at Duke University. More than a decade after the end of direct military involvement, the ambiguous lessons of the Viet Nam War have continued to haunt American foreign policy. In The War Everyone Lost- and Won, Timothy Lomperis examines the struggle for political power in Viet Nam as a conflict fought on two distinct levels for two separate audiences- one Vietnamese and the other global. In Viet Nam, it was a forty-five-year contest for political legitimacy between Viet Nam's Nationalists and Communists. Internationally, it was a duel between America's foreign policy of containment and the Communist strategy of Maoist people's war. Given this dual framework, Lomperis identifies the true successes and failures of the United States' was effort in Viet Nam. The War Everyone Lost- and Won is a complete and cohesive political history of the war and a significant reevaluation of its outcome. N° de réf. du vendeur 77752
