The fifth edition of this introductory textbook reflects the most current research findings in a reader-friendly format for students who do not have a movement science background. This new edition continues from the fourth edition by presenting topics from a unifying model of constraints approach. Students learn to improve their problem-solving by not only looking at the individual, but also at the environment and task factors that may affect growth and development across the life span. Each chapter includes textbook features such as chapter objectives, real-life examples of motor development, a running glossary, application questions, key points and summary. At the end of the chapter section, the student is challenged to reinforce what has been learnt about the constraints. This section encourages the student to visit the student study guide on the website for learning exercises and lab activities.
