After receiving her master's in special physical education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Susan Kasser taught children ages 3 to 15 both adapted and integrated physical education from 1984 to 1993. She developed many games to meet the unique abilities and needs of her students, and she implemented an adapted sports program that greatly improved the skill levels of the children.
Susan was a member of a CHOICES (Children Have Opportunities in Integrated Community Environments) grant committee, emphasizing inclusive education programs. She also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois Coalition of School Professors and University Programs in Adapted Physical Education.
Susan, a faculty member in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at Oregon State University, conducts numerous conference workshops to help physical education teachers learn to adapt games to include students of all levels. She is a member of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and of the National Consortium for Physical Education and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities.
A native of Massachusetts, Susan lives in Corvallis, Oregon. In her spare time she enjoys jogging, canoeing, hiking, and backpacking.
