Softcover. Etat : Very Good+. A softcover reprint edition of an account of the 1862 Battle of Glorieta Pass in northern New Mexico. At that stage of the American Civil War, Confederates believed they could relatively easily conquer parts of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, areas at the Pacific Coast and in northern Mexico. Confederate forces under the command of Brigadier-General Henry H. Sibley were opposed and defeated by members of the Colorado Volunteers at the pass, making the battle a decisive milestone in the Civil War, as fought in the western US. With numerous black & white illustrations and explanatory maps drawn by Burt Schmitz. This work originally published in 1906 by International Bookfinders, Inc. --- In white wraps with images of Sibley and the Union commander, Col. Edward R. S. Canby to cover. --- A well-preserved, tightly-bound copy, though with prior owner's signature to half title.; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; 159, [c.30] pages. N° de réf. du vendeur 89569
