Synopsis

The Work(s) of Samuel Richardson brings together the master printer with the author/novelist in a study of Richardson's material texts and his work as a maker of books. Working from a grounding in recent textual theory, it focuses on select aspects of Richardson's career(s) and those of his books. Richardson emerges not as a man in conflict, but as a man posed at a point of change, and instrumental in that change.
