Synopsis
Publiée à l'occasion du soixante-cinquième anniversaire de l'artiste, La vie possible de Christian Boltanski, rédigée sous la forme d'une interview (que l'artiste compare à une ""psychanalyse"" ou ""confession"") avec l'historienne de l'art Catherine Grenier, est l'autobiographie orale de Boltanski. Il y raconte son enfance bouleversée par la guerre (""ma mère cacha mon père sous le plancher. Il y resta un an et demi, entre deux étages de la maison. Il sortait de temps en temps""), sa carrière, ses amitiés et son mariage, ses réussites et ses regrets, ses approches de l'art et de l'enseignement, la façon dont il a créé diverses installations, ses relations avec les marchands et le public, et d'autres sujets qui éclairent comme jamais son uvre complexe et énigmatique.
