Synopsis
This text explains how to set up safety policies, procedures and systems to achieve a high standard of safe operation. Although there is no "magic formula", the author identifies key factors for safety. He draws on 30 years' experience with the DuPont company, Phillips Petroleum, Conoco UK and Neste Oy and, most recently, as a consultant, looking at and comparing many forms of safety management. The book covers commitment and culture, policies, training, motivating the workforce and putting procedures and systems in place. It explains how to modify existing arrangements in the short and longer term.
