In a section called `Contemporary Painting' (on page 57 of this 148 page volume) we are told : "Kurelek was a supreme individualist. In his realtively short life - he died in 1977 at the age of fifty - he followed his vision with a sublime disregard for fashion.' Read more about : David James, Inglis Sheldon-Williams, Charles Colgate, Henri Julien, L. L. Fitzgerald, drawing masters, cartographers, and Prairie Flowers by Edward Roper. Allen Sapp, George Jenkins, Reta Cowley and Dorothy Knowles also appear in the same section as Kurelek. Text with b/w plates are followed by (p. 86 onwatd) a section of full page colour examples. Cond : Boards are blue grey with gilt lettering at spine. light grey end-papers. D.J. is black with white (and blue) lettering. Cover art is by Illingworth Kerr and shows straw stacks under snow. Volume is tight, bright, clean, and square. No names nor marks. D,J. almost as good with light rubbing. Decidedly collectible ! !
