This collaborative work of Yale ethnographer John Campbell and Nunamiut Eskimo Simon Paneak (1900-1975) is the product of a long correspondence and collaboration which began during the 1956 Yale North Alaska Expedition. The first segment of the book describes the expedition and offers an ethnography of the Nunamiut. The remainder presents Paneak's 97 annotated b&w line drawings relating Nunamiut tribal history and folklore. Includes color photographs. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
