Hardback. Etat : Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Fine. First Edition. ALL SUCH FUN Hilarious Tales of the Turf. Michael Pope. The Sporting Life, London 1992 First Edition ISBN 0901091596 184pp Illustrated Hardback. This copy is in fine unmarked condition in a fine unclipped dustwrapper. A lovely copy of an uncommon book. Michael Pope began training racehorses in 1947 after an illustrious war. He enlisted in the Royal Horse Guards despite the fact that he was half an inch short but a helpful cobbler supplied him with a pair of false heels. He and his brother were commissioned into the North Irish Horse and fought in the North Africa campaign. After a ferocious fire fight during which he lost a track on his tank and swapped to another vehicle while under heavy fire. His troop silenced seven machine guns and captured an 88mm anti tank gun. He was awarded an immediate M.C. After his retirement from training in 1988 he applied himself to writing and completed four volumes of sporting anecdotes of which this book is the first. He was a born entertainer and had an infectious sense of fun. Ref Y3. N° de réf. du vendeur 008213
