Lleva firma de propietario.\nDysthymic disorder, or dysthymia, is a hitherto poorly understood but common disorder of mood or personality affecting as much as 5% of the adult population. While the symptoms are relatively mild or low-grade, its course is chronic, often extending over many years, and it causes considerable personal, social and work dysfunction. As a result of operational research conducted since DSM-III first defined the disorder in 1980, DSM-III-R has narrowed the requirements to establish the diagnosis. Yet it is still a cause for debate whether dysthymic disorder is a form of mood disturbance or personality disorder, and as a result there has been much research in this area.\nThis book reviews the research into dysthymic disorder and examines the utility of the diagnostic concept itself. Expression is given to a wide range of expert opinion, and clinical cases rub shoulders with theories concerning atiology and epidemiology. The interfaces with anxiety disorders, major depressive illness and personality disorder are explored, as is the potential role of serotonergic dysfunction in dysthymic disorder.\nThe book is a result of a one-day symposium on dysthymic disorder held in London and it contains critical comment from the many distinguished and internationally recognised psychiatrists who attended that meeting. 200 gr.
