A classic children's fantasy novel written by the Welsh television screenwriter Terry Nation, most celebrated for creating the' Daleks' in 'Doctor Who'. The book reads like a whimsical, episodic fantasy heavily inspired by The Wizard of Oz mixed with Spike Milligan's surrealism. Beyond the lighthearted comedy, it features strong underlying themes regarding environmental conservation and anti-capitalism. 107pp, [5], illustrated by Terry Learmouth in b&w and in colour. Maze-like map to endpapers. The interior of the book is very clean and bright. There is a neat Gift inscription, dated 1978, to the Dedication Page. Tight, square binding. The dustjacket shows a small pricep-clip [publisher?]. There is some light wear to the top edge, slight raggedness to the head of the spine.
