This is the seventh edition of the most widely known and best-used textbook on EC competition law and practice. For many years a vade mecum for practising lawyers and law students this book has kept pace with the rapid development of the subject, yet has also sought to give ifs readers a solid grounding in the basic economic and policy considerations which underpin the law. This is no less true today, as the subject moues into a new era of modernisation, and as the issue of enforcement cornes to the fore. The clear and readable style of the book ensures that students are given a sound introduction to a subject which can confuse the unwary; and by referring extensively ta practice it also gives the student an invaluable insight into how the law works in the real world. For the practitioner, whether novice or experienced, there is an abundance of insight into the arcane workings of the European Commission as well as trenchant comment on its decisions and policies
As with previous editions considerable attention is devoted ta the areas of overlap with intellectual property and there is a careful analysis of the varions new Directives, decisions, cases and regulations which have all appeared since the last edition was published in 1997. This edition, which was completed in spring 2000 is the most up-todate and current of the standard works on EC competition law
