Born in the china clay region near St Austell, Cornwall, Clemo later became deaf and blind and his poetry 'points to continuing sense of separateness in a materialistic society' These poems are about his personal life and record his views on the lives of Holman Hunt, Eric Gill and Virginia Woolf, among others. A v. good copy (see pic), inscribed (possibly by Ruth Clemo) and signed by Jack Clemo for the late Gerard Casey, a nephew by marriage of John Cowper Powys, and a poet in his own right.
