Synopsis
Alan Rosenfield hails from Swampscott the way Emerson and Thoreau hail from Concord. They are all natives—part of the land, rooted to it and it is a good part of what their writings express. Nature throbs through Alan’s poems, so that the reader can see and hear the beaches and the sky and the sea and enjoy the music of the fall in all of its various shades and moods. But more than that, like Emerson and Thoreau, Alan’s poems are transcendental. They go beyond nature andtouch the world of being—Pure Awareness—a world which Alan knows well due to his nearly 40 years of practicing and teaching the Transcendental Meditation technique.The poems are short, strong and prophetic and like a stone thrown into Walden Pond have ripples that go far.
