This story is about trying not to use great power to impress, but to help others. A lesson for us all today! It features The Little Butterfly who felt his wife was always picking on him so he tried to trickily impress her. A Powerful and Magical King who felt his 999 wives were always picking on him too! His favourite wife Balkis, who was not only beautiful but wise and helped to make everyone happy in the end... eventually! Sheila has brought Kipling's Classic work into the C21st without losing any of his poetry or humour. Brilliantly illustrated with four large full colour images per double page spread, theses books make ideal bedtime reading either with an adult or alone. A few simple notes at the back help to clarify some of Kipling's trickier words and phrases and also give a few ideas for creating stories of your own.
Sheila Graber (pronounced Gray-ber) is an artist, animator and teacher with a deep empathy for all animals. In another life she would probably have been a Shaman! In the 1980's she was commissioned to create a series of animated films for World TV adapted from Rudyard Kipling's "Just So Stories" These books are based on the hand painted art work created on plastic "cel"for that series. To see some cels for REAL go to www.graber-miller.com. She has poured her artistry and love of the Natural World into these books hoping they will encourage future generations who read them to draw on their OWN creativity and write, draw, or simply enjoy life - "Just So"
