Octavo, cloth. First edition. Signed by artist Stephen E. Fabian on the title page. A posthumous collection of five tales of terror and the supernatural by Smith with introduction by Russell Kirk. The stories "have been compared to the horror tales of M. R. James (1862-1936), with whose work he was familiar. Two feature supernatural phenomena with horror in SF overtones. 'The Scallion Stone' hints at a tentacled biological monster from the sea; 'The Propert Bequest' also has a creature whose nature may be supernatural, biological or both.
