Canadian artist duo Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller have been working together for 15 years. Both artists are interested in the unique ual and acoustical representation of memory, anticipation and reality. This catalogue has been published to coincide with their exhibition at the 49th Venice Biennale, for which they received a special award. In their artwork the wer looks at a self-contained miniature of a cinema hall. On the screen, shifted in perspective so that it seems far away, the wer is then confronted with a huge number of quick narrative shots. With a faux velvet cover that opens like a curtain in an attempt to imitate a cinema screen, this fabulous accompanying catalogue further plays with the cinematic experience.
