When Bridget Richards leaves South Manitou Island to take up residence on Michigan’s mainland, she suffers no lack of ardent suitors. Only days after the loss of his wife, Nat Trevelyn, Bridget’s closest friend and the father of a two-year-old son, wants desperately to make her his bride. Kenton McCune, a handsome, wealthy lawyer in Traverse City, showers her with kindness the likes of which she’s never known. And Erik Olson, the son of her employer in Omena, shows her not only the incomparable beauty and romance of a Leelanau summer, but also a bravery and affection beyond expectation. Who will succeed in winning her heart? Or will tragedy swiftly intervene to steal away the promise of lasting happiness and true love?

Donna adopted Michigan as her home state in 1971 when she moved there from a small town outside of Rochester, New York. She began penning novels in 1982 while working full time for an electronics company in Grand Rapids. She resigned in 1984 following a contract offer for her first book. Since then, she has written several romance novels for various publishers, including Thomas Nelson Publishers, Zondervan Publishing House, Guideposts, and Bigwater Publishing LLC. Her nonfiction writing has been published by Chalfont House. Her husband, Fred, an American History teacher, shares her enthusiasm for history. Together, they visit historical sites, restored villages, museums, and lake ports, purchasing books and reference materials and taking photos. Research excursions took her to the sites described in Bridget of Cat’s Head Point: Traverse City, Omena, and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. Donna has lived all of her life in states bordering on the Great Lakes. Her familiarity and fascination with these remarkable inland waters and her residence in the heart of Great Lakes Country provide the perfect background for writing Great Lakes Romances®.
