As the text unfolds, students follow the case from development and analysis, to pretrial activity, trial proceedings, testimony, and dialogue. À propos de l?auteur

R. Pierce Kelley, Jr., was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his undergraduate work at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and received his JD from George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC.

After his admission to the Florida Bar in 1974, Pierce began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Clearwater, Florida. For several years he was the managing attorney of a legal services program for a five-county area in West Virginia. Subsequently, he served as a sole practitioner in Keyser, West Virginia. Pierce then returned to Florida and served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Southern District of Florida.

Since 1985, Pierce has worked exclusively in the area of civil litigation, concentrating on personal injury litigation. He has served as lead trial counsel in over 100 jury trials and has successfully argued appeals to the Supreme Court of Florida and the Supreme Court of Appeals for the State of West Virginia. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of the United States, and all courts within the state of Florida. Presently, Pierce is of counsel to the Tampa office of Hinshaw and Culbertson, rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell.

Kelley has taught numerous courses as an adjunct professor in the legal assistant program at St. Petersburg Junior College and several other universities and colleges.
