Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. O'Neill, John R. (illustrateur). First Thus. The 33rd book in the Oz series & the final one written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, who brilliantly carried on the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, with the lovely illustrations of artist John R Neill throughout the book's 272 pages. Orig. published in 1939 (to coincide with the release of the movie that same year), this is a modern reprint (after the early 1970s per ISBN) by Books of Wonder, in softcover format, but retaining the original text & artwork. An Ex-Lib copy (with the usual stamps & markings), condition is nonetheless VG: pages white & unmarked, binding strong & straight, exterior colors bright. Spine call number removed, but bar code remains on rear, trapped under library clear plastic topcoat applied to book, which is split in places (looks fine, feels uneven in places). Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. O'Neill, John R. (illustrateur). First Edition Later Printing. The 32nd book in the Oz series & the 19th written by Ruth Plumly Thompson,"founded on & continuing" the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, with the lovely illustrations (decorative endpapers, small pen-and-ink sketches & full-page plates) of artist John R Neill throughout the book's 272 pages. Orig. published in 1939 (to coincide with the release of the movie that same year), this is a slightly later reprint of that FIRST EDITION, with a tucked in list of the Oz books (from the DJ flap--DJ is NOT present) going to #34. With red cloth-covered boards stamped with black lettering & design to spine & a brilliantly colored paper pastedown to front, this octavo (7" x 9") is in Good+ condition: generally quite clean & unmarked, with a few name stamps from former owner in front matter, dust dulling & light soil to exterior edges of text block, spotting of unknown origin to spine. Binding is strong & straight, hinges secure, but rear one starting. The cloth covering the spine is split with mild fraying at rear joint. Front pastedown is bright & colorful, virtually flawless!
