This second volume in the series, "The PRR and Dieselization" contains a wealth of interesting information about the Pennsylvania Railroad, picking up in 1947 where Volume One left off and continuing until 1951. In the preface, the author tells us that this is the second in a projected series of five volumes that will cover essentially the history of the PRR from 1947 through to the Penn Central merger in 1968. If it ever comes off, this would be an invaluable resource for any fan of the Pennsy. The book is interesting for three primary reasons: one, it discusses the reasoning behind the Pennsy's motive power strategy; two, it explains what each class of locomotive was expected to do; and three, it details the operational and economic background existing at the moment. To my knowledge, much of this information is available nowhere else in this form. ; The Pennsylvania Railroad And Dieselization, 2; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 176 pages. N° de réf. du vendeur 69764
