Pages are clean and tight; printed on glossy paper. Lusly illustrated with 288 photographs, most in b/w, a 38 in color. My all time favorites are pages 273-277; showing the 1968 and 1984 Tigers playing in, and winning, the World Series, and a 6 photo section of a foal racing off to nurse and nap. More than 450 national and international honors and awards have recognized his stunning pictures.His memorable photographs of the Detroit riots helped the Free Press win the Pulitzer Prize in 1968. A Detroiter, bred and born, and has had a magnificent career with the Detroit Free Press. I've been lucky enough to grow up seeing his pictures on an almost daily basis. As Pres. John F. Kennedy said: "I just want you to know how much I appreciate your photography". A marvelous book, incomparable photographs spanning decades and every aspect of life, a true Detroit legend. The intro is by Neil Shine, still a writer at the Detroit Free Press. Very oversized, 5#. ; Photographs; 9 1/2 x 12 1/2; 278 pages; Book has very minor shelf wear. DJ has rubbing/scuffing, shelf wear, some chips, nicks, creases along the edges; 3" x 2" section at bottom of front, closed tear taped together; bottom half of front has creasing. There is very little corner bumping or spine edge wear. The author/ photographer has signed and inscribed the front end paper. The dust jacket is mostly blue with a painting of the photographer on the front section. The dust jacket has some tears on the upper edge but no chipping.
