What binds the poets is their quality of poetic expression, their originality, and their clarity of intent. Francisco X. Alarcon published seven collections of poetry, most recently: Snake Poems (Chronicle Books, 1992); De amor oscuro/Of Dark Love (Moving Parts Press, 1991); and Body in Flames/Cuerpo en llamas (Chronicle Books, 1990) which has also appeared in Spanish/ Irish and Spanish/ Swedish editions. He has been editor of several literary magazines and journals including Vortice, El Tecolote Literario and Humanizarte. He was also a contributing editor of ZYZZYVA, Poetry LISA, Quarry West and New Chicana/Chicano Writing, as well as poetry editor of Out/Look. He has been awarded many literary prizes and awards and has been both a Danforth and a Fulbright fellow.
