This book, totaling more than 1300 pages in two volumes, was the first to issue from the pen of H.P.B., published in 1877. Isis Unveiled unites a historical review of religious and scientific ideas with the spirit of the quest for truth. Of special interest to the West is the investigation of the origins of Christianity, including exhaustive study of the teachings of the gnostic sects of the first centuries, and an explanation of the mystery of Jesus. The first truly scientific account of the vast subject of “Magic” is offered in this work, which has for its sub-title: “A Master-Key to the Mysteries of Ancient and Modern Science and Theology.” Photographic facsimile of the Original Edition, the two volumes bound in one.

Book Description:
"Isis Unveiled, published in 1877, is a book of esoteric philosophy, and was Helena Petrovna Blavatsky's first major work.
The book discusses or quotes, among others, Plato, Plotinus, the Chaldean Oracles, the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the Bible, Pythagoras, Ammonius Saccas, Porphyry, Iamblichus, Proclus, Apollonius of Tyana, the Popol Vuh, Paracelsus, Louis Jacolliot, Eliphas Levi, Marco Polo, Jesus the Nazarene, Siddhartha Gautama, Zoroaster and Max Muller, as well as Buddhist, Brahmanical, Chinese, Persian, Babylonian, Chaldean, Syrian, Gnostic, Egyptian literature and much more.
It is composed of two volumes, the first concentrating on science, and the second on religion. The two volumes support the idea of spiritualism, and much of the content theosophizes in accordance with it. The volume on science attempts to show how science can be just as dogmatic as religion, and betrays its own scientific method by denying spiritualism with no scientific proof against it. The volume on religion attempts to expose the hypocrisy of religion by focusing on how and where it has strayed from its origins, while simultaneously tracing the doctrines of the most revered mystics and philosophers to a common spiritual root." Forgotten Books is a publisher of historical writings, such as: Philosophy, Classics, Science, Religion, Esoteric and Mythology. www.forgottenbooks.org
Forgotten Books is about sharing information, not about making money. All books are priced at wholesale prices. We are also the only publisher we know of to print in large sans-serif font, which is proven to make the text easier to read and put less strain on your eyes.
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
