The spoken responses of the boys were then interpreted as visual images, such as the iconic face of Malcolm X, extreme weather, and sports heroes of every size and style - as well as some utterly unpredictable images. The book complements the interview transcripts and images of the children's responses with details of Goya's "The Sleep/Dream of Reason Produces Monsters".

Silvia Kolbowski is a New York - based artist who teaches in the Department of Architecture at the Parsons School of Design and the Ecole superieure d'art visuel in Geneva. She coedited October from 1993 to 2000. Her works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally and were the subject of a major retrospective at the Secession in Vienna.
