Etat : Gut. XII; 404 S.; 23 cm; kart. Gutes Ex.; Namenseintrag, sonst sauber.- Englisch. - The Goals of Psychoanalysis, a distillation of Leon Grinberg's thoughts on the problems which can form an important part of the psychoanalyst's professional life, falls into four broad sections. Part One, The Theory of Identification, attempts a precise definition of the concept, discusses its relations to internalization and externalization, and pays particular attention to the mechanisms of projective identification and - in Grinberg's own term - 'projective counteridentification; the analyst's own reactions to a patient's 'intrusive' projective identification. Part Two, The Sense of Identity, addresses the problem of identity and its origins in spatial, temporal and social spheres of integration, and especially considers the identity of the psychoanalyst and the sometimes conflicting relations between analysts. Theoretical and Clinical Aspects of Psychoanalysis, the eight articles which form Part Three, cover a variety of topics, all of interest in their own right, and all related to the delineation of psychoanalytic goals. Part Four, Theoretical and Clinical Aspects of Supervision, examines the special problems encountered in the course of the supervisory and training experiences, where the aims of psychoanalysis are translated into the specific spheres of teaching and learning. .
