The author having worked for an American manufacturing business that decided to adopt Japanese manufacturing principles, based upon the Toyota Production System (TPS), gained a unique insight into the different American and Japanese approaches to manufacturing. In fact the business also applied the American Six Sigma principles at the same time as applying TPS. It soon became obvious that success depended upon how effectively the Japanese manufacturing culture could be adopted by the workforce.But the most unusual aspect about Japanese manufacturing culture was it was taught to the Japanese by an American called Edwards Deming. This was at a time when Deming could not persuade American manufacturing to adopt his ideas.The idea for this Paperback and Kindle eBook evolved out of an objective to try and communicate concisely how the Japanese approach Organisation Change which is very different to the American approach. But it needs to be appreciated that the Japanese culture has its own limitations against the American culture that more readily accepts radical changes. It is Japanese evolutionary change verse American revolutionary change. In fact those that choose to combine the two approaches are going to be the most successful businesses of the future.
