Foreword by Rob Maylin. Dark green boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. To "celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Big Carp magazine, this series of books entitled 'Big Carp Legends' will encompass the greatest names in carp fishing history over the past two decades. The books in this series will be a mixture of articles from the archives of Big Carp, life histories of famous anglers and original articles specially commissioned for the series." In his own words, Dave Lane tells the story of his fishing career."His early days on the Chichester gravel pits gave Dave just the edge he needed when he concentrated on the Colne Valley pits, Harefield and Pit 4, but it was Wraysbury and Horton that put him in the record books, catching more forties that any Englishman had ever caught in a season, and his first fifty pounder, Mary. This fifth volume of the Legends series has much previously unknown material and many, many pictures never before published. Now's your chance to sit back and hear the full story of Dave's amazing carp life for the first time." Chapters include; Carp fever; Chichester and my first big pit carp; The Colne Valley, Harefield - well out of our depth; Pit 4 - the Crazy Carp Scene; Horton - first forty - Jack the ripper; Wraysbury - a new quest; The Mere - just a taste; Conningbrook - party time carping again; Sonning - a new fifty!; Cambridge - fjords and meadows; Dinton - a bait orientated water; St. Ives - the Bobbing Carp; the notorious Black Jack; The Mere, 2004 - my year; Life after the black mirror - a move to Suffolk.
