Synopsis

THE BOOK OF BENEDICTIONS: A Collection of Blessings from the Holy Bible.
English Standard Version. With the monographThe Lord’s Supper.
The purpose of this book is to assist in the selection of a suitable benediction to conclude church services and when taking prayers.
Extempore and written prayers can be fine, but why settle for second best when the Bible, God’s inspired and inerrant word, contains so many passages that are helpful, challenging and encouraging.
The benedictions may be used as they are, or alternatively follow a short extempore prayer which is appropriate to the passage that has been expounded.
It contains benedictions taken from the Old Testament and New Testament, together with supplementary blessings selected from other sources.
The benedictions may be used as they are, or alternatively follow a short extempore prayer which is appropriate to the passage that has been expounded, as the speaker deems appropriate.
The English Standard Version has been used but alternative translations may be used if that is felt to be more suitable and it is a simple matter to look up other translations using the references quoted.
It is the author’s sincere prayer that this volume will prove to be a helpful ‘on-the-desk’ sermon preparation tool for those entrusted with the solemn responsibility of preaching God’s word, and also a comforting devotional aid for Christians at large.
‘An invaluable devotional and sermon preparation aid’
