Pulsar commenced in 1995 and is now published every March and September. It publish poems from all areas of the world. After September 2009 Pulsar reverted to being a webzine only. David Pike's poetical influences include: Larkin, Lorca, Causley, Bukowski, (not necessarily in that order). A new book of poems by David Pike entitled 'In the Mix' (poems 1990 - 2006), ISBN 978-09-520431-8-8, became available in May 2007. In the Mix is an A5 size perfect bound book, with a full colour cover and 60 pages. Other contributors to In the Mix are: foreword by American poet Rose Solari; sleeve review notes by: Mark Seaman (BBC), Gill Harris, Geoff Ward, (Book Editor, Western Daily Press/Bristol Evening Post), Bob Mee, (Editor, Iota), and Andy Robson, (Editor, Krax Magazine). David Pike is the bardic force behind the Ligden Poetry Society; a merry band of poets who enjoy coming together in Wiltshire's pubs and inns to do their poetry things. From the Forward by Rose Solari "The "mix" referred to in the title of this sharp, strong collection of poems is rich with the sense of a place and its past. As the opening poem, "License," tells us, we are in Thomas Hardy country. The rolling Wessex landscape is the ground out of which David Pike's work grows; whether he is celebrating the 10th century English king, "Athelstan," a son of Wessex, or exploring a medieval idiom in "Taking the Air," the poet's sense of history lends weight and depth to the entire collection. But if Pike has one boot planted in the past, the other is firmly set down in the soil of the present. The mix here is full of the artifacts of contemporary daily life.
