Synopsis

Brenda is born into a world where poverty does more than steal opportunity. It teaches its victims that survival is the only dream they can afford.

Estranged from her mother and abandoned by her father at six, Brenda grows up in the ghetto. When she falls pregnant by her cousin Shun, he forces her into a life of crime, where fear becomes obedience and escape feels impossible.

Then Shun is shot.

Left trapped in the life he created for her, Brenda discovers powerful knowledge that could change her destiny.

But freedom has a price.

To escape the violence and despair that have shaped her, Brenda must survive the deadly truth that ignorance kills.

A raw and gripping story of crime, survival and self-creation, Ignorance Kills follows one young woman as she fights to free herself before the streets silence her forever.

À propos de l'auteur

Von Mozar was raised on the Yardie gang-infested streets of Brixton, London. In the 1990's he witnessed destructive acts of violence and death that destroyed, debased and deprecated the minds of many who had shared that environment. He escaped a similar fate by forcing himself to read, inspiring himself to write stories that people from underprivileged backgrounds could relate to and engage with. For two years he self-studied creative writing and then went on to earn a Diploma in Literature and Creative Writing from The Open University. Mozar began his writing career in 2002 and completed his first book, Ignorance Kills... in 2004. He then went on to write, Sexfiend, Little Jamaica, and Mr. Bling. Mozar has sold over 10,000 books independently in London until he stopped to pursue a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in Creative Writing at Kingston University. During his time there he worked with and tutored a vulnerable inner-city young person to write and bring the young person's creative memoir of gang life into print, Through My Eyes: The Spirit of a Prince. Mozar graduated in July 2013, earning a BA Honours in Creative Writing with a 1st Class Special Study in Narrative Techniques in Popular Fiction. Since leaving university, Mozar has explored a different genre of writing; Romantic Realism, the premise of art that selectively recreates reality as it should or could be. This has led to developing an urban crime thriller series, which is planned for publication in 2017.
