Every grandmother enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and, in these days of working mothers, they sometimes get to spend even more time with them. Young children can be demanding and keeping them occupied can be exhausting. This book is a treasure. It reminds us of all the things we used to do with our own children before television took over, and it will keep you and your grandchildren entertained for hours. As a grandmother myself, I can thoroughly recommend this book, and I am particularly delighted that the proceeds will be for the benefit of such a worthy cause as the British Lung Foundation. --Dame Judi Dench Foreword
The full-page illustrations, in cartoon format and attractive colour, are plentiful, superb and very funny. Many of the ideas for activities are delightfully familiar, but are described whimsically and with many flashes of insightful humour. Practical tips are shared with the reader to ensure the comfort and sanity of all. Granny is an enthusiastic player, but sails close to disaster in some games, one imagines to the delight of the grandchildren. Grandpa is, of course, a more distant expert, who is happy to support activities of a more cerebral nature. Since we are all children at heart, this little book is likely to have universal appeal. This will particularly be the case if you like Pooh Sticks, dressing-up boxes, the Hokey Cokey and the Grand National sweepstake. I congratulate Greta Barnes for her dedication to long suffering grannies and their grandchildren everywhere, and commend this delightful book to you all. --Diz Shirley - Link Magazine
Remembering her own gadget-free childhood, Greta Barnes comes up with 22 great ideas for keeping grandchildren everywhere occupied AND entertained. Foreword by Dame Judi Dench and all proceeds to the British Lung Foundation.
