Synopsis

Bob Weed is a human weed, growing, wherever he finds himself, in the wrong place.

At Daikon AirCon — the company intent on air-conditioning the entire planet, whether it likes it or not — Bob has spent months learning to smile on command, sell against his conscience, and disappear a little more each day into a system that watches its citizens' very brainwaves for signs of unauthorised happiness. He is, by any corporate measure, failing to thrive. He is also, by any human measure, dying on the vine.

Then a very bad Sunday night and a very good bag of weed change everything. Bob Weed doesn't come down. He comes up — through the floorboards, through the tower block, through the whole grey, spied-on, over-managed city — as something no sales training ever prepared anyone for.

What follows is a joyously unhinged corporate satire about what happens when a man who was never able to flourish finally does — spectacularly, uncontrollably, and against every rule in the corporate manual.

Equal parts Brazil-style bureaucratic nightmare and full-blown magical mutiny, Weed is a novel about surveillance, conformity, and the sheer bloody-minded persistence of things that grow in the cracks — for readers who like their satire sharp, their comedy absurd, and their revolutions a little bit green.
