Synopsis

Phil has reached a crisis point in his life. Deep in debt, with a nasty cold, he spends his lunchtimes feeding the ducks, while his plant-mad wife spends her money in the Pound Shop. But everything changes when Phil meets a strange girl in the park who offers him the chance of excitement - and much needed cash. Her Nan doesn t trust banks, she tells him. She could lend him the money and no one need ever know anything was wrong... How far would you go if you were disillusioned and in debt? Phil, a modern day Faustus, succumbs to temptation in this dark comedy for the Recession. Catherine Harvey was the winner of REDFEST 2011. Infinite Riches was first performed at the Old Red Lion Theatre in May 2012

Catherine was born in Liverpool and read English at Hertford College, Oxford, before studying Acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Writing for theatre includes: at Theatre 503, Broken Down, Building Walls and The Rialto Burns (also Miniaturists at The Arcola and 503lab); Mirror, Mirror (Menier Chocolate Factory); Face to Face (Old Red Lion); Sweet Dreams (Comedians Theatre Company at The Pleasance, Edinburgh); Open Heart Football (24:7 Festival, Manchester); The Ash People (Best Writer - Daffodil Theatre Awards and published in The Good Ear Review). Radio/audio drama includes: Crocodile Tears (read at The Comedy Project, Soho Theatre); Dr Who: The Queen of Time and Dr Who: Recorded Time (Big Finish Productions). Catherine also works as an actor in theatre, film, TV, radio and voiceover, and directs new writing, stand up and sketch comedy. She is a member of the Finborough Theatre s Literary Development Ensemble, the Young Vic Genesis Directors Project and an Associate of London Classic Theatre. Catherine won Best Writer at Redfest for Angeldust, and as a result was commissioned to write Infinite Riches for the Old Red Lion. It is her first full length stage play.
