I am an accidental author. I found it difficult to engage with my daughter Nicole s homework. Conventional resources were boring and dry, offering no real parent-child engagement. Personal frustration and the application of parental pressure were having a negative effect at homework time. To try to make a difference, I converted some homework into crosswords to make it fun. When she came to do her SATs at end of primary school, I realised that I had converted much of the National Curriculum into crosswords. I produced a few books as mementos of the fun we had shared and the things we had both learned. Waterstones saw the book from a teacher at her school. They suggested that they waned to stock it, so I printed more. After a short local trial, the books were distributed nationally very quickly. It became clear that the homework headache existed in every house, not just mine and I was inspired to publish a complete set of KS1 and KS2 titles, all of which continue the fun approach enabling children (and their parents) to enjoy learning.
The SKIPS KS1 CrossWord Puzzle book brings a refreshing new approach to learning. Presented in an exciting and appealing way to engage your child's attention and therefore their ability to focus, learn and succeed. Encourages parent/child interaction. *Motivating activities based on the KS1 National Curriculum. * Includes stickers to reward achievement.
