In this book, I want to look at some very specific questions and then provide answers which come out of my journey over the last few years. The questions I’m going to look at are:What is ‘it’?AndWhat changes? And how?I am, of course, referring to the experience of being loved by my Heavenly Father and how this has changed Christianity as I knew it. For too many years we have not experienced God being our Father. Just as we talk about what Jesus has done (rather than who he is) so we refer to the Father, rather than knowing him being a Father to us. We have sought to do the things Jesus did rather than becoming like him and living as sons and daughters. Today we hear more about the Father Heart of God and that is a good thing. Sadly, its expression and meaning is often restricted to an inner healing experience; we are repaired in order to go out and function more effectively. It is even trendy to talk about the Father’s love. However, this short changes us. It does not lead to us walking as Jesus walked. In fact, it pushes us further into a life of performance and seeking affirmation through our activity. In this book, I ground some of these familiar expressions about God’s fatherhood in the Sonship of Jesus. As you read, you will discover that God has always been Father and you will see it is his eternal desire to be a Father to you. I describe a relationship rather than a function. As you read I hope you will be challenged. I am not intending to criticise but I am hoping to provoke you. Through the provocation, I hope you will be inspired to see a similar change in your own life and to discover that ‘it’ too can change everything for you.

This book explores specific questions about the transformative experience of being loved by the Heavenly Father and its impact on Christianity. For years, many have struggled to truly experience God as a Father, often focusing on what Jesus has done rather than who He is. This has led to an emphasis on actions over identity, where believers strive to emulate Jesus without fully embracing their identity as sons and daughters of God. While the concept of the Father Heart of God has gained popularity, it is often limited to inner healing, which can inadvertently promote a performance-driven faith rather than a genuine relationship with God. The book aims to reframe familiar notions of God's fatherhood through the lens of Jesus's Sonship, emphasizing that God has always desired to be a Father to us. Readers will be invited to explore a deeper relationship with God, moving beyond mere function to a transformative connection. This journey is intended to challenge and provoke thought, inspiring readers to seek a similar change in their lives and recognize that this understanding can profoundly alter their spiritual experience.
