This new book, by well-known pike-fisherman Graham Booth, provides for the first time ever a thorough account of pike-fishing history. Based entirely on original research, Volume I covers the period up until 1950, and includes an astounding array of newly-discovered facts and figures, many painstakingly unearthed from obscure, forgotten or private sources. All has been crafted into a superb narrative of great authority and power. A must-have for all thinking anglers. Volume II, out in 2012, will bring the subject right up to the present day.

Graham Booth was born in York in 1952, and started fishing as a boy of ten. A true all-rounder, he has fished for salmon, trout, and all species of coarse fish. His most abiding passion is reserved for the pike, and he has pursued these all over the United Kingdom, and in 2010 caught his biggest-ever; a magnificent specimen of 36lbs 6ozs.
He has written for many magazines, including Trout and Salmon, Countryweek, Classic Angling, Waterlog and is a regular contributor to Pike and Predators. He recently contributed to Stephen Harper's 'Dream Pike' and John Watson's 'Piker's Progression'. Apart from angling his wide range of interests include field-sports, wine, cooking, gardening, opera and history.
