Ranjit Bolt is one of the world s leading translators and adaptors for the stage. His adaptation of Corneille s comedy Le Menteur was performed at London s Old Vic Theatre in an acclaimed production directed by Jonathan Miller. There followed a long collaboration with iconic director Sir Peter Hall, as well as productions at the National Theatre and the RSC. Bolt was awarded the OBE in the 2003 New Year Honours List for services to literature. Currently his translation of Cyrano de Bergerac is being staged at the Roundabout Theatre on Broadway. Losing It is his first novel.
The heroine, the luscious young Lucy arrives in Hampstead,North London (where her great-aunt Alicia has a house) determined to lose her virginity. With the aid of said great-aunt (who,as luck would have it, is a witch, and willing to place her magic powers at her niece s disposal) Lucy s quest takes her to, among other venues, the Venice of Casanova and the Rome of Julius Caesar, as well as a devastating near miss with the heroic, psychotic Dick Turpin, before she finally decides to give up trying and let nature take its course
