Anderson (1985-2nd Printing, Hardcover without Dust Jacket) This comprehensive text is addressed to beginners in pension mathematics who have a firm grounding in basic actuarial mathematics, particularly life contingencies. This text had been the principal reference for the pension mathematics topic on the Society of Actuaries examination program for more than twenty years. This text is listed on the Course of Reading for the Canadian Retirement Benefits Design and Pricing Examination of the Society of Actuaries and the EA-2, A Examination of the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries. This comprehensive text is addressed to beginners in pension mathematics who have a firm grounding in basic actuarial mathematics, particularly life contingencies. It also presumes a reasonable background in general college-level mathematics, including calculus and probability, and familiarity with international actuarial notation. It contains extensive exercises of several types. Some ask the reader to complete mathematical developments in the text, others are numerical examples, others are used to develop related material, and several serve to expand the reader's intellectual horizons to deeper mathematical or philosophical questions. This text had been the principal reference for the pension mathematics topic on the Society of Actuaries examination program for more than twenty years. v + 175pp. Book designed by Oliver R. Kline. Originally self-published by author. After acceptance as SOA textbook, publication and distribution was assumed by ACTEX Learning/Mad River Books. The ACTEX organization was formed in 1972 to provide exam study notes and example tests to students. Hardcover has powder blue cloth boards with gold lettering on front and spine, but no Dust Jacket. Interior is tight, clean, and unmarked. Privately owned with no ownership markings. Top edge of pages 80-94 opposite spine were bent through careless storage - the only flaw noted. Almost As New condition. Copyright 1985. The first few printings were self-published, later printings were published by ACTEX. This copy stated from 2nd printing September 1985. ISBN: 0-9614420-1-8.
