ABOUT THE EDITOR Jonathan Black Eagle is a Lakota-Paiute American Indian born in the Black Hills of South Dakota and reared in the mountain deserts of Nevada. He became a U.S. Army Special Forces operator and earned a college degree before leaving the military and settling in Colorado. He joined the Libertarian Party and won the governorship in a hotly contested race against the two-party establishment. Jonathan became immensely popular by dismantling the GOP/Democratic monopoly and governing by common sense rather than ideology – and used that popularity to game the Electoral College and win the 2020 presidential race when Democrats and Republicans refused to vote for the other party’s candidate; they voted Jonathan into the White House as a compromise, along with his Green Party vice president, Gillian Cain, who was voted into office by the U.S. Senate for the same reason. Jonathan does the same thing at the national level, drawing both fire and support from all sides. Through it all, Jonathan operates with the discipline, determination and resourcefulness he learned in Special Forces, tempered by the ecological mind, steady spirituality and gentle sense of humor of his Indian upbringing.
