UPSCALE NINE-BALL Many pool players progress from playing casual EIGHT-BALL with friends to playing in organized leagues. The next most probable step is to play NINE-BALL, and specifically, NINE-BALL tournaments. The game of NINE-BALL requires some skills not required in EIGHT-BALL, the Push-Out shot is an example. This book is aimed at the EIGHT-BALL player that wants to become proficient at the game of NINE-BALL. UPSCALE NINE-BALL is intended for intermediate to advanced pool players. The majority of this book is devoted to those shots and strategies associated specifically with the game of NINE-BALL. The value of this book can best be expresses by the reviewers: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POOL & BILLIARD MAGAZINE, November, 2000 by Thomas C. ABOUT THE AUTHOR JACK H. KOEHLER Jack H. Koehler was born and raised in the backwoods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. After high school he spent four years in the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged from the Air Force he worked at a variety of jobs while pursuing his higher education. He graduated from Fresno State University in 1963. During his first career (with the U.S. Geological Survey) he authored more than twenty published scientific reports. That experience prepared him well for his second career (and first love) of writing books about pocket billiards. He has been fascinated by the games of pool since his first exposure to it when he was about ten years old (he’s now eighty). His books on pool are the result of over forty years of observation, participation, and experimentation. In his books he focuses on scientific reasoning as opposed to unverified opinion in developing and explaining the concepts of pool. Although scientific principals are followed, all of his books are written in easy to understand layman's terms. The books he has authored include: THE SCIENCE OF POCKET BILLIARDS UPSCALE ONE-POCKET UPSCALE NINE-BALL UPSCALE NINE-BALL (Condensed Vertion) SLINGSHGOT SHOOTING Yes, he is also an expert slingshot shooter and has placed in several National tournaments.
